This is DC Cares. The purpose of the organization is educational. Our organization will provide education in job readiness, such as interview preparation, conflict resolutions, cultural diversity etc. Our main target is the disenfranchised population. This is a nonprofit organization, who’s assets and income shall only be used to promote corporate purposes relative to providing the services and assistance described as our purpose.Meet our senior officers below.

Rev. K. Haile

Rev. Sofia Haile Loves the Lord and her favorite scriptures are: John 3:16 “For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son that whosoever believes in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life” and I Corinthians 5:17 “For we walk by faith and not by sight.”
A native of Washington, D.C., currently serves as an Itinerant Elder on the ministerial staff at Pilgrim AME Church of Washington, DC.
She works as the mentoring Coordinator for Hope Charities where she provides mentoring services for men and women struggling with abuse, displacement and unemployment.
Sofia has completed four units of Clinical Pastoral Education at MedStar Washington Hospital Center (WHC) in Washington, D.C.
Sofia is a candidate for a Doctorate of Ministry degree from Virginia University of Lynchburg, expecting to graduate May 2016.
Sofia is the Director of Pilgrim’s Prison Ministry her passion involves ministering to the disenfranchised.
She provides community services hours under the collaboration with Court Service Supervision Agency (CSOSA).
She has received numerous awards from CSOSA, one to include the Volunteers Presidential Award signed by President Barak Obama.
Sofia is the President of DCCares, Inc. a newly formed non-profit to move the disenfranchised from unemployed to employed, from homelessness to residency, reunification with families, socialization back into the community, and self-worth. The backdrop of the success for DCCares, Inc is from volunteers who give of themselves to this population for without volunteers our walk would be different.

Mr. Fred Hammond

Program Coordinator

• Recruit and train un-incarcerated sponsors to partner with displaced individuals to facilitate their successful return to their communities • Monitor the ongoing statistical details of all sponsor/candidate relationships functioning within the program • Supervise the distribution of all program benefit items ie. Clothing, transportation vouchers, hygiene products etc. • Counsel program participants with regard to job searching particulars, training program applications and the acquisition of social service assistance

Reentry Employment Specialist

• Perform intensive job coaching of job readiness skills for clients from the displaced or homeless population • Instruct clients in all facets of job searching methods (resume’ writing, internet searching, interviewing skills, etc.) • Employ intensive job development practices with local employers • Interface effectively with partner agencies who have the same mission

Programmer Analyst

• Developed service requests, job estimates and design specifications • Analyzed, coded and tested both new and modified FORTRAN programs • Developed and updated project and program documentation • Interacted with client personnel to clarify and process technical specifications • Served as the engagements Training Committee lead implementing and managing training and orientation processes and initiatives

Ms. Corline Grimes

Operations Coordinator

Educate staff and participants about the agency’s WHRP Program. Recruit, interview, train and retain potential candidates identified through recruitment efforts at local communities of faith and through other community based-based organizations. Ensure that all sponsors have completed the required background checks and clearances.
Provide sponsors and candidates with information about community resources, to facilitate their smooth transition into the community. This information will be in the form of resource guides and one-on-one consultation with sponsors and candidates.
Ensure that sponsors and candidates complete needed program and evaluation documentation,track and report data on training activities, mentor-mentee matches, social support, and spiritual support as applicable, of the sponsors and candidates to the program Manager in a timely fashion.
Develop and sustain supportive and positive relationships between sponsors and candidates. Assist candidates with application to programs, conduct follow-up interviews and matching of sponsors and candidates, assist candidates in the development of realistic goals and action steps toward a successful reentry.
Provide ongoing support and in-service training as well as periodic social gatherings, to volunteer members, interview and orient potential sponsors, assess their needs and appropriately match each with a candidate.
Identify, develop and share community resources in areas of critical need: these include, but are not limited to, substance abuse treatment options, family reunification, housing, education, pre-employment training and employment, transportation and emergency human services.
